SAN DIEGO, CA November 10, 2025 —Tabor Communications, home of HPCwire for the past 36 years, is now TCI Media, home of the Wire publications. In a corporate rebrand that mirrors Andrew Ng’s AI Virtuous Cycle (more on that below), TCI’s 13-year news site Datanami was renamed BigDATAwire and TCI’s 11-year news site EnterpriseAI was renamed AIwire, combining with HPCwire and Quantum Computing news site QCwire to form the four Wire publications under the TCI Media umbrella:

Tabor Communications’ rebranding to TCI Media and repositioning of its industry-first, world-class publications to better provide end-to-end coverage of advanced scale technologies for scientific and technical computing closely follows the convergence of HPC, Big Data, and AI, along with the evolution of Quantum Computing. The convergence of HPC, Big Data, and AI can be summarized this way:

  • HPCprocesses massive amounts of data for AI and advanced analytics and runs the modeling and simulation workloads for scientific discovery, which in turn generates more data. Quantum Computing promises another step function in capability to power a new generation of simulation and AI workloads.
  • Big Datarefers to the volume, variety, and velocity of data generated by the digital universe, which requires highly optimized data management capabilities at scale. It provides the stock to train foundation models.
  • AIrepresents the training and inferencing algorithms and foundation models that make predictions, generate content, and power agentic applications. It is the intelligence that unites big data and scale-out compute.

“The convergence of HPC, Big Data, and AI results in a Virtuous Cycle of Discovery that is not dissimilar to Andrew Ng’s AI Virtuous Cycle,” said Tom Tabor, CEO of TCI Media. “This cycle is especially important in the realm of scientific and technical computing (engineering, simulation, modeling) that has always been in our DNA, so it’s a natural focus for our portfolio of publications now at TCI Media. The cycle consists of big compute (HPC/QC) that produces big data to feed the LLMs/GenAI, and the AI that synthesizes and refines the data. The cycle enables ever more complex simulations that drive discovery and global scientific advancement.”

As a capstone to its rebrand, TCI Media launched a new website that combines these disciplines, with extensive sections dedicated to HPC, AI, Big Data, and Quantum Computing coverage. The site was designed to encourage readers to explore topics related to the articles they are reading, with the aim of exposing them to the information they’ll soon need to become acquainted with as these disciplines continue to converge. Other new features that make coverage more accessible for readers include expanded video content, text-to-speech so that articles can be listened to, better search capabilities, and a significantly improved, robust mobile version.

“I hope readers enjoy our new website, which I believe is a vast improvement over our previous sites in terms of readability, aesthetics, and site navigation,” said TCI Editorial Director Alex Woodie. “Longtime HPCwire readers also will note that BigDATAwire and AIwire have now been brought under the HPCwire umbrella, joining QCwire as microsites accessible from a single site.”

“Having all four sites under the HPCwire brand will not only bring more visibility to our other publications, but also emphasize the importance that each topic brings to the HPC conversation,” Woodie continued. “The coverage of high performance computing by itself is important, but it gains immeasurably more value when it’s presented within the context of the data and software that run on HPC systems.”
